Matsuya Ginza will hold a 28-day promotion titled "Ginza Souvenirs" from July 24 (Wed) to August 20 (Tue) to coincide with the summer vacation and Obon holidays. While demand for domestic travel is expected to increase this summer due to the weak yen, the promotion will also appeal to foreign tourists for the first time. For the many visitors to Ginza, we will propose carefully selected "Ginza souvenirs" with a sense of specialness, centering on products exclusive to Matsuya Ginza.

This furoshiki is made of Tango crape woven by Yamato, a long-established company founded in 1833 in Yosano Town, Kyoto Prefecture, and designed by Taku Satoh, a graphic designer. Exclusive to Matsuya Ginza, the furoshiki expresses the feelings from choosing a gift to handing it over, based on the concept of "connection with your loved ones.

GINZA YUKATA FAIR

The first yukata sales fair in five years. Japanese goods such as jinbei and fans, which are popular among foreign tourists, will also be available. Purchasers of yukata will receive a "yukata dressing ticket" and a "yukata care ticket.

Matsuya Ginza Summer Festival

  • Date and Time: Saturday, August 3, 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
  • LocationMG Terrace : 8th floor

A fair will be held in conjunction with "Yukata de Ginbura" (Silver Dolls in Yukata). Free participation in target shooting, yo-yo fishing, and other activities is available with online registration of the Matsuya Point Card. Yukata photo service and large-sized Kyoto lanterns will also be available.

Commemorative "Utsuwa" exhibition by Taihei Hayashiya "Rakugo" for children

  • Date and Time: Friday, August 16, 12:00 noon - 1:00 pm
  • Location: Special venue on the 3rd floor of the Pulp and Paper Museum

Rakugo for children performed by master storyteller Taihei Hayashiya. This is a great way to make your summer vacation memorable. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Mizuhiki bookmark making workshop

  • Date and Time: August 12 (National Holiday, Monday) 12:00 noon - 5:00 pm
  • Location: Special space in front of the main window

In cooperation with Kinoshita Mizuhiki Co. in Iida City, Nagano Prefecture, visitors can experience making a Mizuhiki bookmark. POPs with English-language signage will be available for foreign visitors to participate.

Initiatives for Foreign Tourists

POPs with English-language displays are set up for the increasing number of foreign tourists. The POP will use an image of a furoshiki wrapping cloth designed by Taku Satoh to promote "Ginza souvenirs" in an easy-to-understand manner.
